Most of the animals that come to the sanctuary find a place to live out the rest of their lives. We shelter
sick, senior, unwanted and abused animals. They are given medical treatment and a warm, safe environment. The
animals are treated as individuals and each and every one is touched, petted and loved everyday. Some may not be with
us long but for the time they have left they are comfortable. Sometimes we have pets for adoption. Please feel
free to down load the adoption application.

GRETCHEN AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
| Pure Breed German Shepherd Dog |
|
|
| 1 1/2 years old. Good - smart - dog |
Gretchen was sitting in a dog pound and her time was up! This PURE BREED German Shepherd Dog is about 1 1/2
years old. She is a long hair GSD. The dog pound workers told me THIS IS THE SMARTEST DOG WE HAVE EVER HAD
. SHE RAN FROM THEM FOR 6 MONTHS. THEY COULD NOT CATCH HER NO MATTER HOW THEY TRIED. THEY TOLD ME SHE IS
SURVIVOR !! SHE RAN THE STREETS OF ELYRIA OHIO AND ATE AT BERGER KING ONE DAY AND McDonald's THE NEXT. It was
almost a joke because when people would call the pound and say they had a German Shepherd running around the pound workers
said " oh - we know" A few days ago they got her! This SMART AND TRAINED DOG WALKS ON LEASH PERFECTLY. WHEN
YOU WALK SHE WILL WALK AND WHEN YOU STOP SHE WILL STOP. WHEN SHE WAS RESCUED FROM THE POUND SHE WAS TOLD TO JUMP
IN THE BACK OF AN SUV THAT HAD A CRATE IN IT ... AND SHE JUST JUMPED IN LIKE SHE DID THIS EVERY DAY. SHE SEEMS CALM
AND RELAXED AROUND PEOPLE AND DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE AN AGGRESSIVE BONE IN HER BODY. GRETCHEN IS SPAYED, ALL VACINATIONS
ARE UP TO DATE. SHE IS HEART WORM NEGATIVE AND IS MICRO CHIPPED. WE ARE GUESSING HER AGE 1 1/2.
YEARS OLD. SOMEONE MUST HAVE SPENT TIME WITH THIS GIRL BECAUSE SHE IS JUST TOO NICE. HER WEIGHT IS APPROX. 60
POUNDS SHE IS ON THE SMALLER SIDE FOR A GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG. HER ADOPTION FEE IS $175.00 IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GERMAN
SHEPHERD DOG ---- DON'T LET THIS ONE PASS YOU BY. 440-967-3610
JACK ADOPTED!!!
DO JACK RUSSELL TERRIERS COME IN MINIATURE SIZE???? This is one little dog! He is about 15 pounds!
That's small for a JRT. He was rescued from a pound in central / south -west Ohio. He looks like a
puppy that will never grow up. He is no Chihuahua but when we are walking him I swear he is only sightly larger then
a Chihuahua! He is about 3 years old and loves to be held. Jack's front legs are about 4 inches long! ( short
) ?!?! He has a bad tooth on the right front canine. Jack is going to the vet Friday 1/26/07 for NEUTER,
HEART WORM CHECK, RABIES, MICRO CHIP, COMPLETE DENTAL WORK UP. HE HAS ALREADY RECEIVED KENNEL COUGH AND DHLPP VACCINATIONS
and WORMED . If you are looking for a small dog and Chihuahua is too small. Here he is! The adoption fee
is $150.00 to help cover the medical cost. 440-897-2662

This young man is waiting for a new home!
WAGS- ( 3 LEGS ) ADOPTED
| Wags is missing his rear - left leg - at the hock |
|
|
WAGS got his name because every time you look at him he is wagging his tail. Wags was going to be put to
sleep in a dog pound in southern Ohio on Christmas Eve. No one wanted him because he is missing his back leg.
You have to look very hard to see this little guy only has 3 legs. He is very friendly and just a great little dog.
Wags is going to get neutered this week and he will have all his vaccinations and micro chipped too. He is about
30 pounds of love. We are guessing this little guy is about 1 to 2 years old. When we got him we were told he
had no collar on. We found out he had a collar deep under his hair that was filled with 1000 burrs embedded in his neck.
He is doing fine now and that darn tail wags all the time. He is such a happy little guy, Please come out and
see Wags. 440-897-2662. The adoption fee for this little man is $150.00
SHADOW ( 3 LEGS )
| Shadow is missing his right front leg. |
|
|
| Needs to gain 20 to 30 pounds |
|
|
SHADOW was due to be PTS ( put to sleep ) on Christmas Eve. In a cold dog pound - far away he was going
to take his last breath. We just could not let that happen! This fine dog is probably between 2 and 3 years
young. He has been treated for worms, vaccinated, micro chipped and heart worm checked. Shadow is neutered.
This dog is very passive and pays no attention to the other dogs near him. He loves to have you pet him and he loves
to go for walks. He is cage trained and will always wait to go out side to do his business. Shadow is very
smart - he learned where his kennel was in one day and seems eager to please! Like so many rescue stories we may never
know where he came from and who cared for him the first few years of his life. He has an amputation to the right front
leg. The leg was surgically removed at the shoulder. Right now he is on the thin side and very much needs to gain
20 or 30 pounds. He was treated for worms so we hope he starts to gain a little. Shadow loves to walk on a leash
but he is limited as to how far he can go. He gets tired. He came from Mahoning County - the East side of Ohio
near PA.
Shadow is doing very well - we have him on a large Kuranda dog bed in a very large 5 x 10 kennel. He needs the extra room to move around. He is eating twice
a day as we attempt to see him gain a few pounds! He plays like crazy with the other dogs and is a very good dog.

MAC ( MACK )
MAC is a dog that is the product of divorce and now he is looking for a new home. He is neutered - heart
worm neg. all vaccinations are up to date. He is micro chipped. Mac was tied in a back yard and the house was vacated
by the owners. The wife went back to the empty house to see if the dog was still tied out. He was still in the
back yard and she brought him to rescue. Mac has a large fatty tumor on his hind leg. We are not considering removing
it at this time as it is not causing any problems and does not seem to be related to cancer according to the vet. Mac
enjoys being outside but now would like to know what it is like to be loved and kept warm during the cold winter months.
Please call to adopt Mac. 440-897-2662
HAPPY ! ADOPTED 3/07
HAPPY! Came into rescue when his human mom and dad were having a baby and wanted
to only keep one dog! Happy was not too happy when he was not the one to get to stay in the only home he ever knew. Happy
was never an out door dog and only knows how to live inside the house. He was adopted this spring and returned after months
of thinking he was finally in his forever home. Now back to the sanctuary still waiting for his forever home. Happy is about
2 1/2 years old now and he is real close to 80 pounds! This is a large hound... He gets along with other dogs. Happy is neutered,
all vaccinations are up to date and he is micro chipped. Happy is on heart worm preventative. If you would like to see Happy
please call 440-897-2662 .
MISSY ADOPTED 3/07 THANK YOU!
Missy is about 1 year old. She is full of energy and loves to go for long walks. Missy was owner surrendered
by a family that had several Border Collies in the back yard. They were kept in a chain link kennel. I contacted
Border Collie rescue and they came and got about 10 pure bred Border Collies. Missy was not taken because she did not
look like a Border Collie. She is spayed, vaccinated, micro chipped and heart worm neg. Missy is young and would
love a chance for a real family. Please call to visit Missy. 440-897-2662
BEAR BEAR
Bear came into rescue with Zip the Beagle. The were locked up in a garage together for over a year.
Bear is 46 pounds and a medium size girl. She is heart worm negative and on preventive medication. Bear's vaccinations
are up to date, micro chipped and spayed. We think Bear is between 8 and 9 years old. When Bear
came into rescue she had some trust issues with humans. Now she loves to go for her walk on a leash and looks forward
to eating snacks for doing tricks. Bear is a good dog and always waits to do her business outside on her walks. She
has many good years left in her and would love to share a warm home and soft bed with humans she can love forever. Bear's
adoption fee is $100.00
HOLLY
Holly is a Treeing Walker Coon Hound about 2 years old. She is a playful girl and loves to walk on the leash jumping
up in the air and trying to get you to play with her. She was rescued from a kill pound in southern Ohio. Holly
was on the thin side so the vet did a heart worm check and it was neg. He checked her for worm and wormed her.
He wanted to wait 3 weeks so she could get her health back and gain a few pounds. Holly weighed 41 pounds when
we got her. She is gaining weight now that she has been wormed and is on a high quality dog food. We feed Bil-Jac.
Holly will be spayed, micro chipped, vaccinations up to date and she is HW neg. The adoption fee for this young lady
is $150.00
OLIVE ( ADOPTED ) I LOVE THIS DOG AND SHE WENT TO A WONDERFUL HOME. I MISS YOU OLIVE!!!
Olive came to us skin and bones. She was so thin her ribs were all showing and she had pressure sores on
her hip bones where they rubbed on the concrete at the dog pound she was at. OLIVE IS BACK! She is looking great.
Olive has gained weight and went from 41 pounds to 54 pounds in the past few weeks. Olive is spay, heart worm neg. vaccinated,
wormed, micro chipped and she had a complete dental done. It is hard to believe this is the same dog that came to us weak,
neglected and nursing 8 babies. All that is in her past and now she is looking for a new home and new family.
Olive is good with children and loves to go for walks on a leash. Olive's story is at our web site ( listed above )
under rescue success stories. Her adoption fee is $150.00
When Olive came to us she was so thin and weak from nursing her 8 pups we just thought she was a
hound dog. Now she is so much better and gaining weight that she sure looks like she may have so Doberman in her?
One word to describe this pooch " FAITHFUL" She is such a smart and well behaved dog. Olive walks right next to
you like a guard dog on patrol. She walks with authority and looks like a protector. We love Olive and would like to
see her go to a in door home with a family to love her.
MAXWELL ( FAMILY DOG ALERT! ) ADOPTED 3/07
Maxwell is 31 pounds and about 3 feet long!! This is a darn cute dog. He came from a kill pound
in central Ohio. We are only guessing what he is. He has a very long body like a Bassett and he reminds you of a JRT.
He has a big brown spot over the right eye and his right ear is white with black spots. He is so darn cute. Guessing
he is about 2 years old. Maxwell is neutered, heart worm negative and on preventative medication, all vaccinations up to date,
and he is micro chipped. This little one will not last long! His adoption fee is $150.00 440-897-2662
TUFFY ( TOUGH GUY ) ADOPTION PENDING
TUFFY ( TOUGH GUY ) He has been through a lot for being such a little guy. He is about 5 pounds and still on
some medication. Now that he is getting his hair back and feeling better he would like a home of his own. He loves doggie
beds and loves to eat! He gets along with all the small dogs here. His skin condition was never contagious, it
was most probably due to years of neglect, poor nutrition and abuse. His little body just could not take it and he developed
demodectic mange. Demodectic mange is not contagious to humans but it is the hardest (and more often, takes the longest) to
treat. A dog with a healthy immune system usually won't have visible signs (no visible signs or symptoms, usually
no problem). When the immune system is low, the mites uncontrollably start dominating. Tuffy is now getting his hair back
and physically well. Please see Tuff's complete story on the home page.

Dusty is a Long Hair male Chihuahua / Pom mix. He is a senior and just guessing about 8 old. He is plump
and weighs about 9 pounds. He has no eye on the right side. Only God knows what happened o this poor soul and
how he lost his right eye. His left eye has a cataract and he is completely blind. When he arrived here he walked
the perimeter of the fence line and got his bearings and seem to just go with the flow! He does his business outside,
loves to be held and touched. When you go near him to feed him or hold him he starts to wag his tail and wants to be
held. He is not people or dog aggressive. We are looking for just the right person to care for this little man.
